REPLACING AMALGAM FILLINGS

Crowns are designed to:

  • Restore and protect a tooth that is worn, decayed, cracked, or broken

  • Protect and support a tooth after a very large filling or root canal treatment

  • Cover a dental implant

  • Hold a dental bridge or other prosthetic device in place

  • Improve your smile by covering a misshapen or severely discolored tooth

How we make it happen:

Lakebrink-Mitts Dental uses three steps to create the perfect same-day crown for you. First, a digital scan is taken. Next, the digital scan is used to design a crown. Our cosmetic specialist edits the image to ensure that it is the perfect size and fit. When the design is complete, we select a porcelain ceramic block that is secured in our milling unit. Last, the design is sent to our milling unit to complete the crown.

SAME DAY CROWN TECHNOLOGY

Maintain Strength and Stability with CAD/CAM Technology

Anytime you can get dental work done in one visit instead of several visits while maintaining quality and achieving good results, it’s a plus. With CEREC technology, we can provide porcelain crowns for you in just about one short visit.

Porcelain crowns serve a number of functions. They can fix broken teeth, restore decayed teeth, cap and protect a tooth that’s been treated with root canal therapy, or act as a cosmetic treatment for damaged or worn back teeth. You want the strength and protection of quality dental restorations, but you want your dental care to fit conveniently into your schedule as well. The fewer trips to the dentist, the better.

Our technology has revolutionized the way we do dentistry at Lakebrink-Mitts Dental. Carilee, our CAD/CAM Specialist was featured in a popular dental magazine for her expertise in the field of one day restorations.

What is CEREC®?

CEREC®, or Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic, is a revolutionary new process by which tooth restorations are performed. This cutting-edge method utilizes a computer assisted design (or CAD) system and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) to create beautiful dental restorations for patients in a single visit. With CEREC® and E4D technology, patients no longer experience a lengthy waiting period between preparation and placement of the finished product. The process is highly economical, saving both time and money. Metal-free, tooth-colored crowns, veneers, and other restorations are custom-crafted and placed during just one visit.

How Does The CEREC® Process Work?

Exam and Preparation - Before treatment begins, your dentist will assess your individual dentition and state of oral health in order to determine if CEREC® is the ideal solution for you. A portion of this decision-making process will be based upon your unique needs – whether it is a crown, a filling, etc. If the results of your consultation deem CEREC® a fitting option for you, we will begin by ensuring your comfort with an anesthetic before preparing your tooth to receive the restoration.

Optical Impression - Before your custom restoration can be fabricated, Dr. Lakebrink or Dr. Mitts will capture a 3-dimensional image of the affected tooth or teeth using a digital scan. The data from this 3D image will be used to create a digital impression of your teeth, so there’s no need to use messy, sticky impression materials. The CEREC® software creates a 3D virtual model of what your new restoration will look like and sends this information to the milling unit.

Milling Unit - The milling unit creates your customized restoration from a single, solid block of dental ceramic based upon the 3D measurements taken by the CEREC® software. The process takes mere minutes and your new restoration will be color-matched to blend seamlessly with the rest of your smile.
